Here you will find all the fixtures, news and other information about Thorncliffe CC.

Thorncliffe Cricket Club was founded in 1870 and is located in Chapeltown in north Sheffield.

Our goal is to provide the opportunity, environment and facilities to people of all ages and abilities to play cricket, giving all players the chance to reach their highest potential. We believe in playing competitive cricket in the true spirit of the game.

Wanting to play cricket? Are you a junior or senior? All players welcome. We have 3 senior teams, the 1st team and 2nd teams play in the South Yorkshire Senior Cricket League and the Sunday team plays in the Barnsley & District Cricket League.

We have junior teams at Under 9, Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 and U17 age groups, as well as a Girls team, which play in the Ben Jessop Junior Cricket League.

We are a Clubmark registered club which is an accreditation given by the England & Wales Cricket Board to clubs which provide a safe environment for all junior cricketers.

We provide qualified coaching at all junior and senior levels and offer top class practice facilities.

Thorncliffe Cricket Club is looking forward to the new season with fresh optimism following Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions’ confirmation that it will be sponsoring the club for the 2011 season. Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions, which has its UK headquarters at Thorncliffe Park in Chapeltown, works throughout the UK and internationally, and has pledged to support TCC both on and off the field over the coming year.
Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions is funding new kit for four of our teams for the 2011 season. The company is also providing a bowling machine for the use of all teams at the club.
Through the sponsorship provided by Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions TCC can provide the best facilities for local junior and senior cricketers in the area. It will also help the club to develop links with local schools and youth groups, who will be able to visit the ground for years to come, therefore creating a lasting community legacy.

Thorncliffe Cricket Club Senior Teams

Thorncliffe Cricket Club is a Focus Club with Clubmark status. There are currently 3 senior teams.

The 1st and 2nd teams play in the Ben Bailey South Yorkshire Senior Cricket League and the Sunday team plays in the Keegan Sports Barnsley & District Sunday League.

As a club we are always looking for players and everyone is welcome to our practice nights at Lound Side on Thursdays from 6pm till 8pm between April and September.

We also have winter nets from January to April at Bawtry Road indoor nets.

Thorncliffe Cricket Club Junior Teams

We have junior teams in the Ben Jessop Sheffield and District Junior Cricket League at Under 17, Under 15, Under 13 and two teams in the Under 11 age groups.
We also have a team for Under 9's, as well as a Girls' team.
Thorncliffe Cricket Club has ten qualified coaches at UKCC Level 2 and Level 1.
Coaching for Under 11 age groups takes place at Lound Side on Friday evenings between 6.15 and 7.45 pm; Under 13 and Under 15 age groups practise on Wednesday evenings and Under 17 practise alongside the Seniors on Thursday evenings.

Thorncliffe Cricket and Social Club

The company was formed in 1947 to carry on as a cricket club whilst also developing other sporting activities such as fishing, darts, games nights, bingo & many other social events.

Over the past 60 years major development has taken place resulting in what we see today. We now have a thriving sports section which also includes football, hockey, pool & quiz nights. We also have an under 11 junior football side called The Ranch Dynamo’s taking the ‘Ranch’ name which some of our more senior members may remember, was believed to derive from the appearance of the original club house.

On 16 February 1963 this club house burnt down. However the bar was swiftly moved to the kitchen of the old pavilion, where after the game on a Saturday, all the members would sit in the Home Team dressing room and drink beer! We’d like to think that this loyalty to the club still exists today.

At present we have a very healthy membership, but as always, we do look to increase this and would ask anyone who may feel they would like to become part of our family club, to call in and see Andy the club steward or phone 0114 2467500.

We hope that you all have a pleasant season, as I’m sure you’ll agree it is one of the best facilitated sporting venues in the Northern Sheffield area.
